The BookTube Prize was established in 2019 to bring an award to everyday readers who are active content producers and consumers in the bookish community on YouTube and on other social media, what we affectionately call BookTube. We start with a large list of books and over four rounds of judging by readers around the world, we identify our medalists.
We are in our third year in 2021. We feature two divisions, one for literary novels, one for general nonfiction. Read along with us as we identify our favorite new literary novel and our favorite nonfiction work, written in English and published in the USA during the previous year.

The Prize's Structure
- In January, the Prize Committee and the Judges compile and vote on a list of 48 books in each category. Those 48 books are put randomly into eight groups of six books each.
- In each of the four rounds, each group of books is judged by a multi-reader panel, which ranks the books. The top three books in each group advance to the next round.
- The Octafinals (48 books) take place in February and March.
- The Quarterfinals (24 books) take place in April and May.
- The Semifinals (12 books) take place in June and July.
- The Finals (6 books) take place in August and September.
- The winners (Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists) are announced the first weekend in October.
